Please join me in congratulating LIZ SCHNEIDER who was just awarded a very competitive scholarship award from the International Association of Wildland Fire (see email from the Executive Director Mikel Robinson below)! The association receives hundreds of proposals from graduate students from around the world each year, and recent awardees have come from Mexico, Australia, Canada, The Netherlands, and the U.S. Only two awards are given out each year and Liz was the recipient of the M.S. level award! The title of Liz’s essay for her proposed research is “Low-Frequency Climate Drivers of Wildfire Activity, Magdalena Mountains, New Mexico.” These student submitted essays are evaluated by an international panel of fire science experts. More information on this scholarship program, as well as the IAWF itself, can be found here: http://www.iawfonline.org/scholarships.php.
