Undergraduate of the month – March: Paul Lemieux

In Spring 2013, Paul Lemieux conducted research in the Laboratory of Paleoenvironmental Research. Paul is now working with Dr. Horn on a senior honors thesis supported by an NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). The project focuses on the preservation of pollen grains in ancient cave formations. Last summer, Paul conducted an internship at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. With NASA scientists, Paul created an algorithm to estimate salinity in Mobile Bay and the Mississippi Sound using GIS. Paul won first prize in an undergraduate poster competition at the Fall 2013 SEDAAG conference in Roanoke.
