UT Alum Receives Cullum Geographical Medal

One of our alums, Dr. Jerome “Jerry” Dobson (‘75, PhD from Tennessee) received the prestigious Cullum Geographical Medal, bestowed by the American Geographical Society. Please see the press release and photos for more information.

If you wish to share your congratulations with Jerry personally, feel free to email him at dobson@ku.edu. For those who might be interested, the virtual presentation of the Cullum Medal has already been recorded and will go online as of Thursday morning November 19, 2020. If you wish to watch the award presentation anytime on Thursday or thereafter, just follow these instructions:

  1. Search for Geography 2050 The Future of the World Ocean. Or simply enter this URL: https://www.geography2050.org
  2. On Thursday November 19 or later, Go to HONORS & AWARDS (shown as the fourth of six medallions spread across the screen). The ceremony will not be available until that day.
  3. Search down to AGS HONORS AND AWARDS CEREMONY then to RECIPIENT OF THE CULLUM GEOGRAPHICAL MEDAL Dr. Jerome E. Dobson. There you can watch the AGS citation by Dr. Deborah Popper and Jerry’s acceptance.
