The new incoming graduate students in Fall 14 were welcome by the Department Head, Dr. Derek Alderman, faculty, staff, and graduate students at the Department’s Orientation on Friday, August 15, 2014. There are eleven new graduates – six Ph.D. and five M.S. students. We are pleased that this new crop of graduate students is now a part of the geography community at UTK. The new graduate students are joining one of the very active geography departments in the U.S. which includes several research and training programs and laboratories/centers. We hope that the new graduate students will participate on academic and social activities of the department and become an active member of the graduate student body (GARG).
