Geographic Mobility as a Civil Right
In July, UT hosted a residential summer institute for K-12 educators from across the US, funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant. Participants explored the history of the Civil Rights movement through geographic mobility, highlighting the central role of migration, transportation, and travel and tourism in structural racism and the fight for African American freedom and self-determination.
