Description:
The Department of Geography at The University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for a one-year appointment for a Lecturer in Geographic Information Science & Technology (GIS&T), with the possibility for renewal. The instructor will be expected to teach lower and upper division courses in GIS&T using both in-person and fully online delivery modes. Candidates with experience in engaging GIS&T students with local communities are especially encouraged to apply. The position comes with a faculty office in the Burchfiel Geography Building, use of a laptop computer, access to department research labs, and funds for conference travel. The salary for this position is $45,000 and the position includes benefits. The appointment is for one-year with the possibility of renewal.
The Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee maintains expertise in human geography, physical geography and GIS&T, and offers BA degrees in both Geography and Sustainability, as well as MS and PhD degrees in Geography. Starting in Fall 2021, a BS degree in Geographic Information Science & Technology will be offered.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. by August 1, 2021, ability to teach the courses above, and some teaching experience. The candidate must be able to physically relocate to Knoxville, TN.
