Bethany Craig

Bethany Craig, UTK geography alum, published a children’s book relating to her field of study and research of scars as fundamental memorials of the past. She has recently partnered with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital to share the book with patients who may be, for the first time or the 10th time, waking up with a new scar in a scary situation. Bethany has been featured on WKYT and on UKNow. The book has also been added to the University of Kentucky’s, where she is currently a PhD student, Special Collection Research Library archive.

In addition to the children’s book, Bethany’s co-authored paper with

Drs. Derek Alderman, Joshua Inwood, and Shaundra Cunningham “The 1964 Freedom Schools as Neglected Chapter in Geography Education” recently came out in print in the Journal of Geography in Higher Education.”

Way to go Bethany and congrats on being our August Alumni of the Month!
