Brij Banerji is a PhD student working with Karen King in the Tree-Ring Lab, where their research sits at the intersection of dendrochronology, ecology, and climate science. Broadly, Banerji is interested in how trees record and reflect environmental change, and enjoys exploring the many stories they can tell through their growth rings. Their current projects include evaluating the impacts of the invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid on Eastern Hemlock in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and contributing to the North American Temperature Atlas. While much of Banerji’s work focuses on ecological and climate applications, their interests span the full breadth of dendrochronology, and they are always excited to engage with new questions about how tree rings can deepen understanding of the natural world.
