PhD Student | Human Geography

My name is Etta Putman and I am a first year PhD student. I am a human geographer whose research focuses on the American South. My work explores the geographies of memory and commemoration, with particular attention to how underrepresented communities make meaning of places of significance. I am also interested in Black geographies and the geography of religion, particularly how memory, identity, and place intersect across the Southern landscape.
