I’m a geographer with academic foci on sense of place, place naming, and protected areas tourism. I love to travel to U.S. National Parks, and I’m always reminded on my travels of the powerful experiences that outdoor places provide for people of all backgrounds.

I’m originally from Machesney Park, Illinois, and I proudly serve as the Camp Director of Canyon Camp, a Scouts BSA summer camp in NW Illinois.
