PhD Candidate | GIST
I am a PhD candidate in Geography with a research specialization in space-time GIS and transportation geography. My academic and professional journey centers on understanding the dynamic relationships between people, space, and place—particularly how spatial cognition and mobility patterns shape our lived environments. My current research explores the conceptual and computational modeling of spatial understanding, with the goal of developing a GIS platform that captures the nuanced ways individuals perceive and interact with place.
With a strong foundation in geographic information science, I bring extensive experience in geographic data mining, GIS software development, remote sensing, and satellite image processing. I have worked across multiple scales and modalities of spatial analysis, integrating temporal dimensions and human-centered perspectives into geospatial frameworks. My technical expertise includes designing and implementing spatial algorithms, building custom GIS tools, and leveraging satellite imagery to extract meaningful patterns from complex landscapes.
My work is driven by a commitment to bridging technical rigor with conceptual clarity. I aim to create systems that not only process spatial data efficiently but also reflect the emotional, cultural, and experiential dimensions of place. Through my platform development, I seek to contribute to the next generation of GIS technologies—ones that are capable of supporting reflexive, narrative-rich, and context-aware spatial analysis.
