PhD Student | Human Geography
I would like to define myself as a political geographer with a specific research interest in the energy-labor nexus. Actually, I introduced myself above as a geographer, but I was once deeply in love with philosophy. That’s why I enjoyed reading Albert Camus’ Myth of Sisyphus the most. Like Sisyphus, who keeps rolling a stone to the top of a mountain, forever, and still remains in the same place, I began my studies because I wanted to understand why it is so easy to work a lifetime and still be poor and precarious. My current research interests encompass the energy-labor nexus, political geography, political ecology, urban commons, geographical political economy, and the intersection of these fields with Korea, East Asia, and philosophy. For now, I am in my PhD program here, working with Dr. Nikki Luke – starting to roll new stones.
